Regardless of the trim, you’ll get a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 170 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The SLE and SLT trims get standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. The AT5 and Denali come with all-wheel drive.

This engine returns an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and 25 mpg city/28 mpg highway with all-wheel drive.*

Standard features for the base 2022 GMC Terrain SLE trim include 17-inch alloy wheels, LED exterior lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, proximity keyless entry, heated mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and automatic climate control. Also standard is a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, a six-speaker audio setup, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, four USB ports, a rearview camera and Teen Driver.

The standard GMC Pro Safety package comes with pedestrian detection, a following distance indicator, a pre-collision warning and braking system, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and automatic high-beam headlights.

The Terrain SLT trim adds 18-inch wheels, remote ignition, power-adjustable heated front seats, driver’s seat memory functions, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free liftgate, roof rails, universal garage door opener, a household-style power outlet, a high-definition rearview camera, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and more USB ports.

The SLE and SLT trims have an optional Elevation Edition that adds 19-inch gloss black wheels, a dark front grille, mirror caps, black roof rails, black exterior accents and unique exterior badging.

The off-road-focused Terrain AT4 trim includes exclusive styling touches, a Traction Select System with an off-road driving mode, Goodyear Sport Terrain tires, hill descent control, heated power exterior mirrors, exclusive interior badging, skidplates, and a hands-free power liftgate.

The top-of-the-line Terrain Denali comes with an upgraded premium suspension with advanced shock control, an integrated navigation system, a head-up display, an upgraded driver information display, a Bose premium audio system, HD radio, a wireless charging pad, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a safety alert seat.

Most trims are eligible for options, including a sunroof, a surround-view monitor and adaptive cruise control. The Denali trim gets available ventilated front seats.
