2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Overview

The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 mainly carries over from the previous model. One change can be found in the Duramax diesel engine. This powerplant is optional on all trims except the WT, Custom and ZR2. It gets an increase of 28 horsepower and 35 pound-feet of torque.

      Buyers get four engine choices, including a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (310 hp and 430 lb-ft), a 5.3-liter V8 (355 hp and 383 lb-ft), a 6.2-liter V8 (420 hp and 460 lb-ft), and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine (305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft). The base 2.7-liter turbo-four is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The others are paired with a ten-speed automatic.

      The best fuel economy is achieved with the turbodiesel. It gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg city/33 mpg highway.* All-wheel drive models get 26 mpg highway.

      If you’re looking for a bare-bones work truck, the aptly named Work Truck model is for you. It comes with manual windows and locks, vinyl upholstery, and manually adjustable front seats. The LT and higher models give you more amenities, including a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 13.4-inch center touchscreen, and a nicer-looking dash. The top-of-the-line High Country trim offers the most luxury, with leather upholstery and open-pore wood trim. All models except the WT get standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

      Off-roaders will love the Chevy Silverado ZR2 trim. Standard features include animated LED headlights, 33-inch tires, steel front and rear bumpers, a black grille with accent lighting, a high-approach front bumper with a 31-degree approach angle, Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, an enhanced two-speed transfer case with Terrain Mode, a hidden dual-outlet exhaust, exclusive skid plates, and unique interior styling.
