An optional 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 unit generates 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of twist. Power is sent to the wheels through an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional.

The EPA doesn’t test heavy vehicles like the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD. In Car and Driver testing, the Silverado 2500HD with the 6.6-liter V8 gas engine returned 14 mpg highway. The diesel engine checked in with 19 mpg highway.

It comes with a long list of standard features, including 17-inch wheels, an automatic locking rear differential, a two-speed electronic transfer case, black bumpers, black exterior trim, manual door locks and windows, rear-seat air vents, vinyl upholstery, a locking tailgate, trailering mirrors and equipment, air conditioning, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth.
