2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD Overview
For 2022, GM offers buyers at dealerships like the Forest City Chevrolet dealer two Chevrolet Silverado variants. The updated model is the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and there’s also a 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD model. The latter version of the Silverado 1500 is essentially a rebranding of last year’s model. The automaker decided to release the Silverado 1500 LTD to keep supplies of this full-size truck in dealerships in case production of the standard Silverado is held up due to supply chain issues. Expect the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD to be sold alongside the 2022 Silverado 1500 until dealerships get a steady supply of the new model.
Buyers can get the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD in three cab styles with three bed sizes. According to the Forest City Chevy dealer, there are eight trim levels on offer, listed as Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country. With so many models and configurations available to buyers, there’s a Silverado 1500 LTD for every need. This pickup has an excellent maximum towing capacity of 13,000 pounds.
Four engines are available. The standard powerplant is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 hp and 348 lb-ft, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can upgrade to one of the optional engines. A 5.3-liter V8 puts out 355 hp and 385 lb-ft. It’s paired to an eight- or 10-speed automatic gearbox. For more power, there’s a 6.2-liter V8 that generates 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, linked to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Those looking for a diesel engine will want to go for the 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine. It puts out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft, matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
As its name implies, the base Silverado 1500 LTD Work Truck trim is mostly a stripped-down model for buyers who want a no-nonsense pickup for work. That being said, it does come with unexpected features such as a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard features include 17-inch steel wheels, vinyl upholstery, power windows and door locks, a 40/20/40 split-folding bench seat, rubber floor covering, air conditioning, a locking tailgate, a stereo system with six speakers and Bluetooth.
As you’d expect, the Silverado 1500 LTD gets more standard features as you move up to the higher trim levels. At the top of the lineup, the High Country trim comes with the 5.3-liter V8 engine, high-intensity headlights, 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated front seats, a spray-on bedliner, chrome assist steps, a power-operated tailgate, a digital driver information display, an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, a Bose premium audio setup, navigation and a wireless phone charger.
Options include a towing camera capable of displaying up to 15 different camera views and the versatile Multi-Pro tailgate. The available Trailering package adds an automatic locking rear differential, a four-pin connector, a 2-inch receiver, a trailering hitch platform, and a seven-way harness with a seven-way sealed connector. The Max Trailering package includes modified rear springs and specially tuned shocks.
