You can configure the Colorado in a number of ways, so you can get one just the way you like it. When you choose your Colorado at a dealer like Salem Chevrolet, you can get it as a comfortable daily driver, a capable work truck or an off-road monster.

There are a few changes for 2019. The Colorado’s infotainment system gets an update. There are some new wheel options, and the upper trims get a Rear Park Assist system and new power seats. Colorado buyers can choose some new paint colors: Crush, Pacific Blue Metallic and Shadow Gray Metallic.

The automotive press agrees that the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is the ideal midsize pickup. The experts at Kelley Blue Book wrote: “The 2018 Colorado is perfect for those looking to haul or tow, but don't want the hassle of parking and maneuvering a full-size truck. A major advantage to the 2018 Colorado: It is garage-able. The diesel engine's fuel economy is remarkably good, and the ZR2 may just be the off-road enthusiast's dream.”

The Colorado comes in two body styles: Extended cab and crew cab. Extended cabs seat two or four, while crew cabs seat five passengers. There are two bed lengths and five different models: Base, Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71 and ZR2. Buyers can choose rear- or all-wheel drive, depending on the configuration.

There are three engines on offer. The standard block is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 200 horsepower and 191 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic (available on all trims except the Base). This engine has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

Meanwhile, an optional 3.6-liter V6 that develops 308 hp and 275 lb-ft, teamed to an eight-speed automatic is also available on all trims except the Base. Maximum towing capacity is 7,000 pounds.

An available 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder unit generates 186 hp and 369 lb.-ft., mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 7,700 pounds for rear-wheel-drive models. This engine is available on all models except the Base.

The Colorado Base trim comes with many valuable features, including a rear bumper step, a locking tailgate and lighting for the cargo box. Choose the LT trim and you’ll get rear park assist, an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The off-road ready ZR2 comes with many helpful off-roading features, including an off-road suspension package, skidplates and tow hooks.

Parents will appreciate the standard Teen Driver system, which allows them to limit the vehicle’s top speed and the volume of the stereo system when younger drivers are behind the wheel. A rearview camera also comes standard. Optional advanced safety features include rear parking sensors, an HD rearview camera, forward collision alert and lane departure warning.
